Position Summary:

As the head of the sales department, the VP of Sales is responsible for everything that happens within the department. They are ultimately responsible for the company’s sales performance because they make decisions, set goals, and lead the sales staff. The VP of Sales tests different sales plans and adjusts the sales strategy as needed to increase profits. They typically work closely with the sales team, but they also work with other department heads, key clients and other stakeholders.

The Vice President of Sales is also responsible for customer relations, communications, marketing, traffic/shipping, galvanizing, powder coating, and a working knowledge of these processes. The VP of Sales is responsible for the continued success of company growth.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that safety is the number one priority for Franklin Industries. Watch and abide by all safety protocols.
  • Oversee all operations and business activities to ensure they produce the desired results and are consistent with the overall strategy and mission
  • Maintain open, productive communication with Sales Department staff
  • Manage, train, mentor, and motivate all sales team members and processes
  • Set sales goals and quotas
  • Produce sales forecasts and reports
  • Research the market and competitors
  • Analyze problematic situations and occurrences and provide solutions or improvements
  • Maintain a deep knowledge of the markets and industry of the customers
  • Develop high quality business strategies and plans ensuring their alignment with short-term and long-term objectives
  • Respond in a timely manner to all customers and contacts, both internal and external, via telephone, email, text, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams as appropriate.
  • Establish and maintain continuous improvement (2 Second Lean), problem-solving (KATA technique), and Root Cause analysis
  • Provide monthly KPIs to the Executive Committee and provide HR with weekly employee information (Examples: vacation days, hours remote work, bereavement days, free days, etc.)
  • Maintain ISO 9001:2015 departmental standards
  • Maintain a working knowledge of company breakaway systems and competitors’ breakaway systems
  • Build and retain productive, successful, and ongoing relationships with customers

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Strong leadership and sales skills
  • 5 years’ experience in Sales Management preferred
  • Analytical skills to evaluate data and use it to make decisions
  • Understanding of market trends and adaptability to follow those trends
  • Motivational and influential personality
  • Problem-solving and customer service skills
  • Strong organizational skills and strategic planning
  • MASH crash testing requirements
  • Past and current NCHRP 350 crash testing requirements
  • Experience with diverse business functions such as Marketing, PR, Finance, etc.
  • Strong understanding of corporate finance and performance management principles
  • Ability to develop profitable strategies and implement the vision of the company
  • Hot rolled bar mill experience in studded T-post and flanged channel business preferred
  • History of attendance and assembling show booth for ATSSA a plus
  • Good knowledge of ground-mounted sign support market, fencing market, and vineyard/shade house markets preferred
  • Good knowledge of the scrap business and ability to follow price fluctuations of hot rolled bars
  • Excellent computer skills, MS Office and Excel.
  • Excellent math skills
  • Detail-oriented

Essential Job Functions:

  • Increase tons sold per forecast/goal
  • Manage outside sales staff to include travel, agendas, and data collection.
  • Manage territory and incentive structure
  • Manage industry and competitive information relating to price and sales, maximize sales to existing customers and new product development
  • Manage various work instructions and department procedures

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at desk, working on computer
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department
  • Various repetitive motions – keyboarding
